For this video, I did the opposite of what I usually do: instead of putting images on my music, I put music on my images. It is the scenario of nature that has imposed itself. The actors played quite naturally because they are swans and moorhens. It was only by watching them for a long time that I was able to understand the plot: it is a fight for territory. It seems that the swan dance is a ritualization of the struggle, which can however end with the death of one of the competitors… This inspired me to compose music in three movements, reflecting the movements observed and the attitudes at the same time majestic and a bit pathetic (especially the swan, seemingly losing, fending off a few moorhens to save honor)… I especially love one of the final scenes where a moorhen washes up and seems to taunt the swans imbued with their superiority. If you look closely, swans say a lot about us. The similarities appear to those who can see them. I titled it "Once Upon a Time in a Lake" because the plot is pretty much the same as in "Once Upon a Time in the West"... Global warming poses water problems (see my video “Once upon a time in the water”). The water drops in the lakes and therefore the territory of the swans is restricted. This could explain the fact that three swans are engaged here in the competition. The advice of ornithologists is welcome. In any case, I had never seen such a scene. It is fascinating and moving. Swans have a dramatic beauty. |
